- The word count is more than 250 words and up to 300 words (go beyond 300 words ONLY if you assess yourself as an advanced level writer or have already scored 6 or 6.5 band).
- A fancy introduction is avoided (words like a hotly debated topic or the world is divided into two views, etc.).
- The given statement is rewritten/paraphrased.
- A thesis statement is written.
- The introduction section contains no more than 3 sentences.
- Each body paragraph is almost (not exactly) written at a similar length.
- The topic sentence of each body paragraph is clear.
- At least one supporting argument is written after the topic statement.
- An example is used.
- The example is linked with the topic sentence of a paragraph (the concluding line of each body paragraph).
- The conclusion contains a maximum of 2-3 sentences
- The conclusion contains key points that are discussed in the body paragraphs
- No new ideas are introduced in the conclusion
- At least one phrasal verb and two linking devices are used in each body paragraph
- Most sentences are compound, and some sentences are complex
- Spelling and grammar errors are minimal (online grammar checkers can be used)
