Writing a body paragraph is not just about making sure that the whole paragraph has a common topic or has a main point; it should also be organised well.

There are some points to be considered while writing a body paragraph in your essay:
1. The main point or overall idea of the paragraph must emerge from the thesis statement. Also, write things in the same order as specified in the thesis statement. For example, your thesis statement mentions the essay will discuss benefits and limitations of something, write the first body paragraph on benefits and the second body paragraph on limitations.
2. Start your body paragraph with a topic sentence.
3. Add one or two sentences to extend your ideas or justify the topic sentence.
4. Write some relevant examples, but make sure you cover the supporting ideas as mentioned in point 3 before using an example. It is not a good idea to start with examples and extend ideas later on.
5. Write the summary of the entire body paragraph, or what the example proves about your argument. Do not finish your sentence with an example.
6. Use cohesive devices where appropriate. It should not be forcefully used.
