Sample of a Formal Letter
You recently bought an electronic product from an online store, but it did not match the description. Write a letter to the store manager. In your letter:
- Describe the product you bought
- Explain the problem you faced
- Say what you would like the manager to do
I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction with a wireless noise-cancelling headset I purchased from your online store on 15th March. The headset was claimed to be brand new and came with the latest noise reduction technology, which made me consider purchasing it from your store.
However, when I received the product, I noticed a number of issues that made me strongly suspect that it was not brand new. The headset had noticeable scratches on its surface, and the packaging indicated that it had been previously opened. The other main problem, however, was that the noise cancellation did not work as expected, as I could still hear noise even when the noise cancellation level was set to the highest. I carefully followed the instructions provided for the use of the headset and even went a step further to troubleshoot the problem, but it did not work.
Therefore, I would like to request a full refund of the amount I paid for the product or a replacement of a brand-new and functioning one. I would also appreciate it if the defective product could be collected from me.
I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution to this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Ajay Mishra
