Step 1: Read the question/prompt or the statement carefully. Understand each sentence and try to correlate other sentences and get an overall idea. Until you read and comprehend each sentence, you will not be able to know exactly what is required.

Step 2: Paraphrase the given statement. This is the first actual process of writing your essay. Try to use different words from the given in the question statement but do not use informal words. IELTS essays are written in a formal tone.

Step 3: Write the thesis statement. In short, it is about what are the points on which you will base the discussion in the body section. Whether you agree with the statement, whether you will offer solutions to some problem, the thesis statement is a brief idea of what the reader or examiner should expect in the body paragraphs.

The introduction should be of minimum 2 and a maximum of 3 sentences. Try to write no more than 50-60 words in this section.

That's it for the introduction part.
