Timed Listening practice is most useful when the review produces a short list of causes, not only a score.
Here is a simple routine that keeps the review focused.
1. Do one section under normal timed conditions. Avoid pausing, replaying or checking the script while you are answering. That makes the result useful as a diagnostic.
2. Give every incorrect answer one main label. Useful labels include: missed a key word, followed a distractor, lost track of the speaker, spelling or plural error, misunderstood vocabulary, or ran out of time. One clear label is more useful than writing “careless mistake.”
3. Re-listen only after making the first diagnosis. Locate the words that answer the question and note why the original choice was tempting. A speaker may mention one option and then correct it; that is a distractor, not a vocabulary problem.
4. Turn the label into one repair activity. If spelling and plural endings repeat, do short dictation and check word endings. If distractors repeat, write a brief “changed answer” note whenever a speaker revises an idea. If timing is the problem, predict the type of word needed before the audio starts.
