In 1999, there were 359,000 people from single family with no children living in poverty and 232, 000 people from sole-parent family living in poverty, which dominated 19% and 21% of poor people at that time. According to this data, there was no doubt that earning for a living by a single person was very difficult at that time, otherwise, they wouldn't preoccupies such big proportion of people living in poverty. Secondly, only 6% people from single-aged-person family and 4% individuals from aged-couple family lived in poverty, which indicates that there was a positive relation between the increase of age and the accumualtion of wealth. The common situation was that most aged people didn't live in poverty at that time, which might because aged people had worked for ages and saved money for ages. Thirdly, people from a family of couple with children living in poverty had a bigger proportion than people from a family of couple with no children living in poverty, which might indicate that raising a child was a cause to increase poverty.
Could you give this a quick look and polish it up? I'd really appreciate it!
