Hello people,
I am going to share my preferred essay writing framework. Most of things you may already know, but I am sure you will get some ideas as a beginner in essay writing.
So, there are 5 major steps in writing any IELTS essay (there are no as such official instructions, it is just matter of preference and teaching style).

Step 1 - Read and understand the essay prompt. Pay attention to directive words. Directive words are those that clarify what is actually required in the essay. Words like discuss, give your opinion, to what extent do you agree or disagree, etc. are examples of directive words. Do not assume that if one of the keywords in directive words says "problems," then it is always going to be a problem-solution essay. That would not be the case every time.

Step 2 - Start writing introduction part. Write maximum 3 sentences in this section; 2 will also work. Start with the paraphrasing of the given statement. Second of the last sentence of the introduction must be your thesis statement.

Step 3 - Start writing the body paragraphs. Make sure each body paragraph has a key theme that directly relates to the thesis statement. If it does not match with points mentioned in the thesis statement, it won't be a good body paragraph. Write at least 4-5 sentences in each body paragraph. Cohesive devices should be used naturally. Do not use a cohesive device before every sentence.

Step 4 - Conclude your essay. The conclusion must be the summary of your body paragraphs. In other words, it is restatement of the thesis statement in concluding tone. The thesis statement signals what you will do, conclusion signals what has been done by you. But they refer to same things that are written in the body paragraphs.

Step 5 - Proofread and edit - Never forget to proofread and edit your essay after finishing writing. You should practice in such a way that you are left with at least 5 minutes for editing, revision and corrections.
